Did you know the average car contains 30,000 unique parts and that over 60 million cars are produced every year? Students with a passion for engines will benefit from our brand new, fully-equipped, purpose-built motor vehicle workshop at City Skills. The new state-of-the-art motor vehicle workshop is installed with industry standard equipment including a four-poster ramp and diagnostic testing equipment. This gives students practical, real-life work experience whilst completing their studies. These courses are designed to give you an awareness of vehicle operating systems. You will develop an understanding of the maintenance procedures through practical tasks using modern technologies and tools. A live MOT test bay provides a realistic working environment, up to date PC access and modern resources that are relevant to the industry. Training is delivered via our trainers who are all current live MOT testers in industry.

Progression

Qualifications can lead to roles in the motor vehicle industry such as being a mechanic, vehicle maintenance, servicing and vehicle recovery.

Assessment

You will complete a combination of practical activities and the necessary theory behind these sessions. There will also be a practical task book to complete and a multiple-choice test at the end of the course. Once this has all been completed, you will be issued with a City Skills certificate of Merit.

Entry requirements

An interest in learning basic car maintenance procedures is essential to begin studying one of these courses.
