Outline

You’ll explore foundational topics that underpin construction design and planning, including:

  • The built environment and construction industry structure

  • Sustainability, health, safety, and welfare

  • Gathering information and accurate surveying techniques, including geospatial and digital methods

  • Using technical instruments (e.g. theodolites, electronic distance measurement tools), ensuring they’re calibrated correctly

  • Analysing data to plan and programme construction activities — considering cost, resources, environmental factors, and legislation

  • Producing design briefs, workstage plans, schedules, specifications, and project proposals

  • Applying technical drawing, modelling, and CAD skills, including manual sketching and 2D/3D digital models

Assessment

When you have completed your T-Level qualification, you will receive an overall grade of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. You will complete several assessments throughout your studies, including exams, coursework, synoptic assessments, and a reviewed industry placement.

Entry Requirements

Students are required to have achieved 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or higher, including English and Maths.
