Outline

Level 1: Health and safety, introduction to motor vehicle, fault finding, cooling and lubrication, spark ignition and engine component and transmission.

Level 2: Engine technology, chasis, electrical, transmission, housekeeping in the automotive environment, tools, equipment and materials for vehicle maintenance, and workshop relationships.

Level 3: Diagnostics and fault finding, the removal and replacement of a light vehicle chasis, electrical components and light vehicle transmission system components, diagnostics and repair of electrical faults.

Progression

On completion of your level 3 qualification, career pathways might include a career as a vehicle mechanic, car technician or careers in the motor sports industry.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Vocational Courses: Students are required to have 4 GCSEs at grade 1-9Level 2 Vocational Courses: Students typically progress from the Level 1 course.*Students may qualify for direct enrolment onto our Level 2 courses for ages 16-18. Eligibility will be determined by teachers during the enrolment process and will require an average G-Score of 4. Level 3 Vocational Courses: Students typically progress from the Level 2 course.Students are also required to attend a college interview.
